What a day of shad fishing! I had a goal of getting 100 fish for the day on the fly rod but ended up with 69 shad. Good numbers of the shad were living up to their nickname- Poor Man's Tarpon with their wild jumps. I was fishing a 6wt with an OPST Commando setup and boy did I enjoyed casting this setup. It was effortless spey casting my custom shad flies to get down to the fish. Overall, it was a great outing to be on the water, fishing along with fellow anglers and seeing tight lines.
